Sobek

Sobek takes its title from the ancient Egyptian crocodile god, a figure associated with the Nile, protection and untamed strength. DOSA draws on this powerful mythology without turning it into a literal historical image. Instead, the work creates a contemporary visual space where ancient symbolism meets a bold, layered style. Contrasting forms and carefully placed details suggest a world in motion, balanced between danger and protection. Sobek invites the viewer to consider how old stories continue to shape our ideas of power, fear and transformation.

DOSA is a Dutch street artist from Nijmegen (The Netherlands), born in 1994. Fascinated by drawing and graffiti from an early age, he entered the graffiti scene through hip-hop culture around 2009. After studying at ArtEZ, he developed a distinctive visual language that combines technical precision with storytelling. His work brings together surrealism and folklore, merging the raw energy of street art with the traditions of classical painting. Each object functions as a clue, inviting viewers to create their connections. Rather than offering meanings, DOSA leaves space for imagination, interpretation and mystery.
